In 2022-2023, Made Outside partnered with Poppy Hand-Crafted Popcorn to rejuvenate its brand as it grew its brand presence and celebrated its 10th anniversary. By infusing the brand with a bold new personality and cohesive visual identity, we successfully redefined its presence in the snack and gift market. The projects we worked on encompassed a comprehensive rebranding initiative, including all-new brand messaging, brand visuals, support assets, new packaging design, a new Shopify website, art direction, styling and photography content, social media strategy, and collateral design. Our efforts not only drove significant sales growth but also earned the prestigious Best of Show at the 2023 Addy Awards.

The work we completed has won 2 GOLD Addy Awards and took home BEST OF SHOW in the 2022 Addy Award Competition.

Poppy Hand-Crafted Popcorn, a beloved all-natural gourmet popcorn company, has experienced rapid growth, with a 150% year-over-year increase since 2018. However, their existing packaging lacked consistency and did not fully reflect the brand’s ethos of joy, fun, and gift-worthiness. With their expansion into larger markets and retailers, it was crucial to create packaging that was visually cohesive and aligned with the brand’s core values of storytelling and purpose. Poppy needed a solid and consistent foundation to support their continued growth and to elevate their brand experience in this competitive sector. The current brand was scattered, easy to scale, and not effectively selling the product or the Poppy story. 

Working closely with Poppy’s founder and CEO, Ginger Frank, we brought her vision of joy and fun to life through a refreshed brand and packaging design. The new packaging design encapsulated the brand’s personality while maintaining visual consistency across the product line. Custom illustrations and a thoughtfully curated color palette helped communicate the brand’s story, emphasizing the quality of the product and its appeal as a premium gift item.

In addition to packaging, we managed the creation of photography content, social media strategy, and graphics and collateral design to ensure a cohesive brand presence across all channels. This comprehensive approach unified Poppy’s visual identity and positioned them strongly in the gift market. Ginger expressed her satisfaction, stating, “Made Outside walked this journey with us and really brought my heart for the brand to life.”


The successful launch of Poppy’s new packaging and website, combined with our strategic storytelling and design, significantly enhanced their brand presence. The project was recognized with multiple awards, including the Best of Show at the 2023 Addy Awards, underscoring the impact of our work in elevating Poppy’s brand in the competitive gift market.
