The Challenge
Rare Roots Hospitality entrusted Kara to build Fin and Fino’s brand from the ground up, with only a name and location and no menu or concept direction. The challenge was to craft a brand identity that not only captured the restaurant’s focus on fresh seafood and social connection but also delivered a rich, immersive customer experience.
The Solution
Kara and her team leaned heavily into storytelling, drawing inspiration from the Moby Dick classic novel. The restaurant’s personality took shape through custom illustrations, high-end photography, and carefully curated elements, like bespoke wallpaper, menu presenters, and elaborate bar menus. Every detail, from the decor to the visual assets, was designed to tie into the larger narrative.
The result is a brand that embodies much more than just a logo—it’s an entire experience. Today, Fin and Fino is recognized as one of the top dining destinations in Charlotte, and it stands as a perfect example of how effective branding combines storytelling and design to create something unforgettable.
